Die Geschichte ist so fantastisch, dass sie als ein tolles Beispiel, zur Nachahmung empfohlen, hier veröffentlicht werden muss:

Am 29. Februar 2024 erhalte ich, Torsten Schoepe, eine E-Mail von Violet aus New York, deren Inhalt mit ihrem Einverständnis hier veröffentlicht werden darf:

"Hello,
My name is Violet and I am writing from New York. I recently came across some old photographs from the 1920's and 1930's at the flea market in my building. I live in an artist community in Manhattan and it is home to people from all over the world, many of different eras. These photographs, partially removed from an album, displayed groups as well as structures, some with hand-written inscriptions on the back. I immediately recognized the moniker "Volkshochschule." I recently graduated with my undergraduate degree in Human Rights with a focus on Education and Pedagogical History, so I had encountered the concept previously during my studies. Given the time period, I could infer this school was likely tied to the Nazi party somehow. I did as much research as I could from home and identified this building as Schloss Kolborn. I learned about the Knesebeck family and Wendland. I looked through all of the photographs in your archive and did not observe any redundancy. In fact, most of these images do not seem to appear anywhere online. I knew from the moment I obtained these photos that I should send them back to their place of origin so they can tell the story they were always meant to tell. (...) As your name is attached to a large number of the photographs on your website, I figured you would be the best person to reach out to. I believe that they would make a wonderful addition to your collection and I have no doubt you have greater means to properly conserve them. I have taken digital scans of these photographs which I will attach here. If you are interested, it would be my honor to mail the originals to you. I will sleep better knowing these once abandoned images have finally returned home. Thank you for reading this letter, I hope it finds you well.

Es folgt eine kurze E-Mail-Kommunikation mit Violet und am 21. März kommt die Sendung mit dem Album und 30 Photos in Lüchow an. Eine junge Frau entdeckt auf einem Flohmarkt in New York alte Fotos aus Deutschland, kauft sie und recherchiert anhand von ein paar Angaben nach dem Ursprung, findet das Wendland-Archiv und schickt sie auf eigene Kosten, die nicht unerheblich sind, zurück nach Deutschland. Das finde ich außergewöhnlich und beeindruckend. Vielen Dank Violet!

Die Fotos sind jetzt veröffentlicht, als Gruppe zusammengefasst und Informationen über die Christliche Volkshochschule aus der "Zeitung für das Wendland" hinzugefügt. (Siehe ID 57337 und 57333)
